Poppy pastry

Is somebody coming for a visit and you have nothing to give on the table? Make this delicious poppy pastry in no time.

Use a 180g yoghurt cup for measurement.

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 2 yoghurt cups sugar
  • 2 yoghurt cups milk
  • 2 yoghurt cups flour
  • 1 baking powder
  • few drops of rum
  • 2 yoghurt cups ground poppy

  • 20 dkg plain chocolate
  • oil or even better coconut butter if you have it

1.) Separate egg yolks and whites into 2 bowls. Add sugar, vanilla sugar, milk, flour and baking powder in the bowl with egg yolks. Then add rum and ground poppy.

2.) In the other bowl whip the egg whites and slowly add it to the first bowl.

3.) Butter the baking tray and add a bit of flour on top. Heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for around 20 minutes. Check with a toothpick if it’s done.

4.) After it’s done wait so it cools down a bit. Melt the chocolate with coconut butter or oil and pour it over the pastry.

5.) Put it in a fridge or in a cold room so the chocolate won’t be all over your fingers. Cut the pastry with a hot knife so it won’t break.
